The word ‘millennium’ has a Latin origin and means a thousand years. It is one of the highpoints of the Kingdom-future that you should look out for.
During this time, our Lord Jesus will literally take over the ruler-ship of this earth with all His believers – Dan. 2:44,
“And in the days of these kings the God of Heaven will set up a Kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the Kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever”
Again the Prophet Daniel prophesied:
“But the saints of the Most High shall receive the Kingdom, and possess the Kingdom forever, even forever and ever.” – Dan. 7:18. Wow!
Moreover, the Holy Spirit inspired these words to the Prophet: “Then the Kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the Kingdom under the whole Heaven shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High.
His Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.” – Dan. 7:27. Furthermore, in the New Testament, we read: “And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them.
Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the Word of God, who had not worshipped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.” – Rev.20: 4.

The end of the Millennium
The end of this thousand-year physical rule of Jesus on earth is described in 1 Cor. 15:23b-28,
“…Then cometh the end when He shall have delivered up the Kingdom to God, even the Father; when He shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet….and when all things shall be subdued unto Him, then shall the Son also Himself be subject unto Him that put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.”
This end of the millennial represents:
1. The consummation of God’s plan for all the ages – Eph. 1:9-10,
“That in the dispensation of the fullness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in Heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him”
2. The time Satan is cast into the lake of fire after his postmillennial final effort at deceiving the nations – Rev. 20:7-10,
“…And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever.” – vs. 10
3. The end of the millennium represents the time of the second resurrection and judgment of unbelievers – Rev. 20:11-13,
“And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it…and I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God…and they were judged every man according to their works.”
4. The end of the millennium is also the time of the second death i.e. the casting of Death and Hades (where unbelievers were before the second resurrection) into the lake of fire – Rev. 20:14,
“And death and hell (hades) were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” Unlike hades, the Lake of fire or Final hell is a place of unending punishment
for the total personality of man – spirit, soul, body; not just a part of man.
This is how dangerous the Lake of fire is. It’s a place of comprehensive punishment. But, you can avoid it be recognizing and receiving Jesus as Saviour and Lord now.
