GOLD TO LIVE ON

Jesus received very costly gifts from wise men who gave Him gold, frankincense and myrrh – Matt. 2:11,
“And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense and myrrh.”
It is important to note that, all the three gifts were a store of wealth in those days, not just the gold.  All the three gifts were the treasures of the wealthy of the time. Don’t spiritualize them too much. Religion does that. Literally, they all had great literal monetary value.
So, Jesus at about two years had a head-start in life, inheriting part of the life investments and financial wisdom of these great men.

They were held to be kings, in their own rights, you know! Thus, Jesus lived on gold, among other great treasures, in a region of the world not particularly noted for mining gold.
The Bible did not say they gave our Lord Jesus a ring, bracelet or neck-chain of gold, but gold. Yes, most likely, the gold was not a neck-chain, bracelet or ring, but bullion. It is also likely that, the three gifts were not used immediately, but further invested for Jesus.

As you know, investing has always been a Jewish culture – Matt. 25:27.
Jesus’ parents were not that broke to use His money. Besides, these treasures came in such a miraculous way to make even an ungodly person fear a misuse of them. And young Jesus worked and earned money as a carpenter Himself, from His teenage years, till He was thirty.
What do you think He did with that money, in the light of the fact that, He had the moral courage to teach later that, if one intends to build something, he should assess whether he has enough to finish it, before he starts – Lk.14:28-30.

Don’t you think being a good teacher our Lord Jesus Christ began practicing this Kingdom word before He taught it? – Acts 1:1.
