“…making mention of you in my prayers that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him…” – Eph. 1:16b-17.
Apostle Paul prayed for the believers in Ephesus to have wisdom to make use of the Jesus they already knew. Yes, these knew Jesus as Lord and Saviour, because they were believers already. But Jesus had to be applied to their everyday lives to lift it from ordinary living to a life of excellence and practical progress in all aspects of life, as in the political, socioeconomic etc.
Such is what Wisdom alone can do.
So, the believers needed to have the spirit of wisdom and revelation to make practical use of the Jesus they professed.
It is the same with us today. All believer’s, especially dark-skinned ones, need to go beyond seeing Jesus as their Saviour from sin and hell, to seeing Him as affecting all aspects of their lives. This is the gospel of the kingdom that Jesus brought and which He said would be revived to usher in the end. This is obviously because the kingdom of God practically expressed on earth is the ultimate will of God for all men – Matt. 24:14.
